Meet Sara Garrison
We are excited to spend time this year introducing members of our outstanding tutor team. We’ll kick off the year with Sara Garrison, a tutor who has been with Connections from the beginning. Sara grew up in Milford, Ohio and attended college at Taylor University. She was a Mathematics Education major and taught math at Norwood High School for seven years. She is now a stay-at-home mom to her boys, ages 3 and 5, and has been a part-time tutor at Connections for five years.
What's your favorite thing about tutoring? I enjoy connecting with my students the most. Since tutoring is one-on-one, I tend to tutor students for several years, and I meet with students in their homes. I definitely get to connect with students at a deeper level than when I was teaching.
What is the best book you've read in the last year? Sherlock Holmes novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I love reading the classics that I have not read before.
How would you spend a free Saturday afternoon? Hiking with my husband, sons, or neighborhood friends
You just won an all expenses paid vacation! Where are you going? Scotland! I would spend time with old friends in Glasgow, visit the castle, eat fudge in Edinburgh, dance at a ceilidh, hike in the highlands, and relax on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
Thanks for all your great work, Sara!
